Keeping Connected

Working in your own business – often a one-person business – can be a little lonely.  Yes, a cafe is a welcome respite, as is a trip to the dog park, but there is nothing quite like the connection and collaboration that happens in a co-working space.  And fortunately, they are popping up in our local neighbourhoods.  As a result, there is an upsurge in networking, conversation, ideas and our mental health!  Sharing a challenge over a coffee rather than stewing alone makes a real difference.

Recently I had the pleasure of photographing the interior spaces for Pigeon House Studios in North Manly.  They have desk spaces, a meeting room, photo studio, lounge area, kitchen, shower facility, free wifi and parking (for bikes as well).  The owner, Kirsten and manager, Rachel are wonderful and welcoming.  Check them out.

Here are a few shots I took as extras that give a feel for the place.

Product Shoot for Local Furniture company

It was a fabulously fun day shooting for Creative Space, who specialise in custom joinery and furniture, based on the Northern Beaches of Sydney.  We shot a selection of their many current offerings in the beautiful light in their workshop space.  Here are a few examples of their gorgeous products, shot for their recently re-launched website.

Dream Kitchen

It is not every day you get to re-invent your kitchen.  In fact, it is probably a once in a life time thing.  We were lucky enough to have that opportunity.  The after is so much better than the before.

Gone are the days of checked carpet, bench tops at knee height, yellow flakey paint, no bench space and a fridge in the next room.

With the help of Dave at The Kitchen Maker, we created this gorgeous space.

Our favourite part is the custom glass photograph splash back.  It is an image I captured a few years ago while we were holidaying in our favourite spot in the Blue Mountains.  Mark wrote in sparkler while the kids directed and I shot.

It makes me smile every time I see it and reminds me of family and good times.

I have added interiors to my repertoire

I have always loved shooting interiors and lifestyle product set-ups.

I am in the process of getting my price list together, but if you need some images for your business, please get in touch.  Here are some shots I took for Hello Yellow, the fabulous online homeware store and interior design service brought to you by the fabulous Wendy.  See her website for some more of my images.Hello.Yellow.Collage

My first love – interiors photography

Way before I shot weddings or family portraits, I used to love to shoot interiors.  I assisted interiors, product and hotel photographers for a while and then moved in other directions.  But that love has never left me.

A little while ago I had the fabulous opportunity to collaborate with Hello Yellow, specialising in hand crafted Homewares and Interior Design consultationWendy asked me to shoot for her new website launch.  I was thrilled and we worked so well together – we had a great laugh.  With her eye for layout and my eye for what looked good in camera, we combined strengths and created some interiors and photographs we are proud of.  And, I LOVED it.

So I am rekindling an old flame and pursuing my love for interiors photography.  My new business cards are ordered and my new website will also feature this growing area of my work.  I have already been asked to quote on a project for another designer and will be doing more work with Hello Yellow.  Yay for me.
